I was introduced to Urban Space and their new development, Hoogeind, by a mutual friend of Brendan and myself. They were already quite far down the line in the design process but Brendan and Roger were very accommodating in terms of our specific needs. The home was delivered to us ahead of schedule and all Snags, albeit not many, were dealt with quickly and without compromising quality. All trades were on hand to rectify issues.

Being in the building industry myself, I spent many an hour on site carefully inspecting the workmanship, which was, to my delight, of high quality. Thought and care was taken with regards to the common areas and boundary walls to make them aesthetically pleasing, and to this end it was achieved.

I bought a piece of land and entered into a development agreement with Urban Space in 2014, when I will still based in Johannesburg and looking to move to Cape Town. My family and I searched extensively for properties of the right calibre in our preferred location before we found Broughton Place, an upmarket secure estate in a beautiful location. Co-incidentally, we had previously visited and been impressed by the quality of a completed home we had viewed in a previous Urban Space development and so took comfort that Urban Space was the developer for Broughton Place.

Having built our previous home, we were somewhat nervous about building a home "remotely" as we understood how important hands-on oversight is in the process. From the outset, we were impressed by the level of attention to detail and professionalism we encountered in our dealings with Urban Space. Our many questions and requests for variations were met each time with a thoughtful response and detailed quote. When we visited the building site, we were impressed by the neatness of the work and the attention to health, safety and environmental issues. Clearly this was a developer that took pride in their work. This enabled us to reduce the frequency of our site visits significantly.

What also impressed us was the way they handled issues which inevitably arise on such projects. Brendan even personally flew up to Johannesburg to meet with me to discuss a request from a neighbour which he handled in a sensitive and mature manner. When there were changes in the Urban Space team which caused some continuity issues, this was acknowledged, dealt with and ultimately did not significantly affect the project timetable. We took delivery of our beautiful new home in November 2015, a few months ahead of the contractual completion date.

The after sales service we received is a distinguishing feature of Urban Space. It is part of their value system to ensure owners are happy and they really did go out of their way to try and please us. Snags were dealt with, even when arguably identified outside of the the contractual period. It really was a pleasure not to have to fight to get snags fixed. As per their typical modus operandi, this process was dealt with in a calm, mature, thoughtful and respectful manner. They continued rectifying snags long after we had expected they would stop doing so.

The quality of their workmanship was significantly better than other builders or developers we have encountered. Any issues identified in the workmanship were acknowledged and addressed. Urban Space was committed to ultimately achieving the right levels of quality, even if it was at the expense of time and expedience.

Based on my own experience to date, I would certainly recommend Urban Space.
